Police-Involved Shooting Under Investigation In Aurora: Cops

The officer was reportedly responding to an armed robbery when he discharged his gun and struck a suspect in the arm.

AURORA, IL --- Aurora police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened while police were responding to a report of an armed robbery Monday evening. The incident took place in the 1300 block of East Indian Trail just before 6 p.m., according to a news release from Aurora Police Department.

Police were called after a man was allegedly robbed by "several males" at gunpoint. When police got to the scene, an officer saw the armed suspects and reportedly "discharged his firearm striking one of the suspects in the arm."

The injured suspect was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

The two other suspects reportedly fled on foot, but were later located trying to hide in other yards in the neighborhood. Police say they also recovered a gun they believe may have been linked to the armed robbery.

According to Aurora police, this was an isolated incident and the public is not in danger. The investigation is ongoing.
