Prescribed Burn Planned At Aurora Forest Preserve
If passersby see smoke in the area Tuesday, it's part of routine land management, officials said.
AURORA, IL — If passersby notice smoke near Big Woods Forest Preserve Tuesday, there is no cause for concern, the Aurora Fire Department said.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is conducting a prescribed burn from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. east of Eola Road between Butterfield and Bilter roads. The area is largely woodland, wetland and prairie.
The winds are coming in from the south-southwest Tuesday, fire officials said.

"You may see smoke in the area — this is planned and controlled as part of routine land management," the Aurora Fire Department said in an alert. "These burns help maintain healthy ecosystems and reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires."
