Rabbit, Chinchilla Rescued from Aurora House Fire
A resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but refused to be taken to the hospital.

Aurora firefighters rescued a rabbit and a chinchilla from a fire that broke out in the 200 block of South Elmwood Friday afternoon.
When crews arrived at around 3:48 p.m., they found a two-story single family home with heavy smoke showing from the first and second floors, according to a press release from the Aurora Fire Department.

A female resident was home at the time of the fire and a service vehicle with one employee was at the residence when the fire occurred. The resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, but refused to be taken to the hospital. A chinchilla and rabbit were rescued by firefighters and were unharmed.
21 firefighters put out the fire in just under 30 minutes. The fire is currently under investigation, but is believed to have been electrical in nature.

Fire damage to the structure was approximately $15,000 and around $15,000 to the contents of the home. The residents were able to stay in their home after the fire. There were no injuries reported.
