Retired Marine Robbed By Woman Who Shoved Her Way Into Home

Police say the incident was one of two crimes against elderly residents in November.

AURORA, IL --- A retired 76-year-old Marine's wallet was stolen in Aurora after a woman forced her way into his home and claimed she had to use the bathroom Tuesday morning. The incident took place less than two weeks after another elderly man, 71, was the victim of a ruse burglary.

Police say the first victim answered his door in the 900 block of Mason Ave. and was thrown off by a woman who pushed her way past him and claimed she needed to use his restroom. The victim told police that once he got his bearings and tried to follow the woman, he realized she had left through his back door and stolen his wallet.

On Nov. 16, a 71-year-old man in the 300 block of Zengle Ave. was burglarized by a suspect who posed as a roofing contractor. According to police, the suspect said the man's roof needed to be repaired and he entered the man's home to assess the "work" that was needed. After the suspect left, the victim noticed that cash had been stolen from his home, possibly by a second suspect.
