AURORA, IL — One business was cited after failing to card underage buyers in the Aurora Police Department's latest alcohol and tobacco compliance check.

The Aurora Police Department conducts periodical undercover details to ensure alcohol and tobacco aren't sold to minors. This time, cadets, who are all under the age of 21, attempt to purchase alcohol or tobacco from nine businesses. Eight complied, and one failed, officials said Jan. 30.

Smokes R Us, at 3150 N. Aurora Road, was cited for violating a city ordinance after an employee didn't ask for the cadet's identification. The business was issued a notice to appear in court.
