Standoff With Police Leads To Felony Charges For Aurora Man
A 26-year-old Aurora man faces multiple felony charges in connection with a seven-hour standoff last week on the city's east side.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man was charged with eight felonies last week after police said he barricaded himself inside his home on the city’s east side while armed with a gun.
Dreyke Jones, 26, faces felony charges of armed violence, possession of a firearm by a street gang member, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in public, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with a previous felony conviction and possession of a firearm without a FOID card, among other charges, according to Kane County court records.

Jones was arrested June 24 following a seven-hour early morning standoff in the 500 block of Bangs Street. Police allege Jones barricaded himself inside his home just after 2 a.m. that morning when police responded to a call about a man with a gun.
A woman who was in the home with Jones walked out at about 4 a.m., according to a report by the Aurora Beacon-News.

Aurora police evacuated residents from some nearby homes on the morning of June 24. Jones peacefully exited the home and was arrested after speaking with crisis negotiators and his girlfriend on the phone for about 40 minutes, police said.
A Kane County judge set Jones’ bail at $200,000, according to court records. He is due to next appear in court Thursday.
