Three Men Charged In Armed Robbery, Officer-Involved Shooting
The officer involved in the shooting has been given administrative duties as the investigation continues.

AURORA, IL --- Aurora police have filed felony charges against three men in connection with an armed robbery that turned into an officer-involved shooting on Monday. Police charged Giovanni Padilla 26, of the 300 block of Brown Ct.,with armed robbery, armed violence, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of cannabis. Michael Paige, 18, of the first block of Senora Dr., Montgomery; and Tyron Smith, 18, of the 300 block of W. 106th St., Chicago, face charges of armed robbery, armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.
According to police, the three men were at an apartment in the 1100 block of Farnsworth with the intention of buying drugs, but displayed weapons and stole the drugs before fleeing the apartment. The victims called police, who caught up to Padilla near the intersection of Farnsworth and Indian Trail.
Police say Padilla tried to flee at first before allegedly getting into an "armed confrontation" with the responding police officer. The officer reportedly shot Padilla once, causing an injury that was not life-threatening.

Paige and Smith were found shortly after hiding in the backyards of homes in the 700 and 800 blocks of Trask Street.
According to police, the officer involved in the shooting has been assigned to administrative duties as the investigation continues.
