Train Derails Near Railyard In Aurora: Fire Department

Hazmat officials say there were no immediate hazards.

AURORA, IL --- The Aurora Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of train cars that had been derailed at the BNSF railroad. The derailment, which took place at around 1:20 p.m., brought out a hazmat crew to assess any damage.

An image posted to the Aurora Fire Department's Facebook page shows one train car on its side. Police say there were no injuries and that no hazardous materials had been spilled.

BNSF railroad is still investigating the cause of the derailment and determining how many cars became derailed during the incident.
