What To Donate To Northwestern Hospitals In Chicago Area

AURORA, IL — After seeing an outpouring of support amid the new coronavirus crisis, officials at Northwestern Medicine have created guidelines for those who are looking to donate food or supplies to health care workers. The health system recently published a list of frequently asked questions as well as a donation form on its website to make the process easier and safer.

Northwestern Medicine officials are asking donors to complete the form to detail their intended donations.

Officials are encouraging system-wide donations but donations can be made to specific facilities, including Northwestern Medicine Aurora at 2635 Church Road. Other hospitals within the Northwestern Medicine network include: McHenry Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Huntley Hospital, Delnor Hospital, Lake Forest Hospital, and Central DuPage Hospital.

Donations should not be dropped off at any Northwestern Medicine locations without making prior arrangements, according to the health system’s donation page.

Northwestern Medicine is currently accepting the following items for donation:

• Factory-made, hospital-quality medical supplies — including N95 respirators, face masks and face shields, isolation gowns and exam gloves
• Food and beverage products
• Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies
• Donations from businesses of discounted or donated meals and services, delivery, and app subscriptions
• Cell phone and tablet chargers

Donations of handmade masks, gowns or other medical supplies can not be accepted at this time, hospital officials said.
