Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinners: Academy Grads Buy Meals For Cops

Citizen Police Academy alumni donated nearly $3,000 to cover the cost of 300 chicken dinners for Aurora police from Reuland Food Service.

AURORA, IL — Graduates of Aurora’s Citizen Police Academy are thanking the city’s officers with some homestyle cooking as they work on the front lines amid the coronavirus pandemic. Academy alumni recently donated nearly $3,000 to cover the cost of 300 chicken dinners from Reuland Food Service for Aurora police officers and department personnel.

Co-owner Ryan Reuland said the company delivered 100 dinners — with a roasted quarter-chicken, mashed potatoes, corn and gravy — to officers Monday and another 100 dinners Wednesday. The final delivery will be made Saturday, the last day of national Police Week, Reuland said in a news release.
