Woman Charged After Intentionally Setting Fire To Home To Kill Man: PD
A 73-year-old Aurora woman was charged with two felony counts of attempted murder and aggravated arson after the Saturday evening incident.
AURORA, IL — A 73-year-old Aurora woman is facing an attempted murder charge after police say she intentionally set fire to her home Saturday evening in an attempt to kill the man inside.
Joanne J. Burgess, of the 800 block of Taylor Avenue, was charged with one count of attempted murder and one of aggravated arson, both felonies.
After a preliminary investigation, detectives determined the woman intentionally set fire to the resident to try to kill the man inside.

The victim suffered minor injuries but requested not to be taken to a hospital, according to officials. The man was in stable condition as of Monday afternoon, police said.
Officers and fire crews responded to the 911 call about a structure fire just after 7 p.m. Saturday when first responders canvassed the area, interviewed witnesses and began an investigation into the fire.
