Woman Dies Days After Eola Road 3-Car Crash: Aurora Police

Auroran Nicole Dickerson, a 48-year-old teacher who worked at a Naperville elementary school, died as a result of her injuries, police said.

AURORA, IL — A woman, 48, died several days after a three-car crash off Eola Road, police said in an update Wednesday.

Police identified her as Nicole Dickerson, of Aurora. She was a fourth-grade teacher at Welch Elementary School in Naperville for two years but had worked at Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 for "many more," according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.

"Nicole was a caring, patient, strong and beautiful wife, mother and teacher," reads a GoFundMe campaign started to raise money for her family. "Her absence will be felt tremendously for all of those who loved her."

Officers responded to the area near Eola Road and Village Green Drive around 8:52 p.m. April 6. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 32-year-old Aurora man was driving south when he crossed the median and hit a car, driven by Dickerson, driving north. Dickerson's car was then rear-ended by a third vehicle, police said.

Both Dickerson and the 32-year-old man were brought to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the third car, an 18-year-old man from Warrenville, was hospitalized in stable condition, according to police.

Officials said officers learned on April 10 that Dickerson had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by Aurora Police Department's Traffic Division. Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call detectives at 630-256-5330.
