Woman Suffers Minor Smoke Inhalation After Aurora House Fire: FD

An alarm brought a total of 26 personnel to the single-family house showing heavy fire from the two-story house's rear exterior.

AURORA, IL — A woman suffered minor smoke inhalation after her residence caught fire Monday morning, Aurora Fire Department officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched around 9:45 a.m. Monday to a single-family house fire in the 2400 block of Geneva Court. The 26 who responded included two medic units, three chief officers, four engines and two trucks.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing from the two-story house’s rear exterior. The first units to arrive began tackling the exterior before entering through the garage to attack the fire in the kitchen. A second team advanced a line to the second floor to put out flames extending into the attic, according to a news release.

The blaze was fully contained within 29 minutes, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The only occupant, a 39-year-old woman, was assessed by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation but did not require more treatment, officials said. No others were injured in the incident.

The resident was able to make temporary accommodations after the house was deemed uninhabitable, according to the release.
