Wrong Turn Gets Car Stuck On Railroad Tracks In Aurora: Cops

Police say the driver inadvertently turned onto the railroad tracks.

AURORA, IL --- An Aurora man barely escaped being hit by a train after the car he was driving got stuck on the tracks early Saturday. Police say Mark Lacek, 25, of the 1800 block of Kenilworth Place, had inadvertently turned onto the railroad tracks after pulling over on Prairie Street to text someone.

According to police, Lacek's car got stuck on the tracks after he made the wrong turn. Lacek safely exited the vehicle before an approaching Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was unable to stop and struck it in the rear.

Police say no one was injured during the collision, but that Lacek was charged with driving without insurance and unlawfully entering a highway rail grade.
