24-Hour Fitness Center Coming to Barrington

A big name fitness center is coming to Barrington.

On Monday, Aug. 15, the approved Anytime Fitness, a 24-hour fitness center, to move into the vacant building at 141 S. Northwest Highway.

According to the Anytime Fitness’ website, the company has more than 1,600 facilities worldwide, including dozens of locations in Illinois. The closest is located in Carpentersville at 2154 Randall Road.

Although the gym is not staffed during all hours, they do take safety precautions to protect clients with remote-monitoring surveillance systems. The website also describes personal-safety devices for gym-goers after hours that allow easy access to emergency care if needed.

Village officials, including Police Chief Jerry Libit, said crime is not expected to be a big issue with the 24-hour location. Libit spoke with other police departments that have similar facilities, and they reported no crime-related issues with the operations.

Anytime Fitness is expected to open its Barrington location later this year.
