Barrington Lawyer Helps Handle Prince's Estate
Andrew Stoltmann of Barrington Hills has been hired as the lead counsel for Prince's niece. Hundreds claim they are Prince's legal heir.

A Barrington lawyer has the rare opportunity to help handle Prince’s estate after becoming lead counsel for Prince’s niece, Briana Nelson, 31, of Milwaukee, according to the Daily Herald.
Nelson spent much of her childhood in Prince’s Paisley Park mansion in Chanhassen, Minn. Her father, Duane Nelson, who is now deceased, was Prince’s half brother and ran his security team, according to the newspaper.
Andrew Stoltmann, who has offices in Barrington and Chicago, has made several trips to Minnesota since May for court hearings.

"Sorting through the alleged heirs has been a daunting task since literally some 400 people have claimed to be related, with 99 percent of these people actually being not related," Andrew Stoltmann, told the Daily Herald. A judge in Minnesota has ordered DNA testing to determine rightful heirs of Prince.
Prince died on April 21, 2016, of an accidental overdose of the prescribed opioid, fentanyl. He was 57. At the time of Prince's death, he did not have a will, which means the state will now have to determine how his estate will be divided among his living heirs, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
