With deep experience in health care quality and prior roles as a Harper instructor and advisor, she'll help shape programs and policies that directly affect Barrington-area students, families, and taxpayers in the community college district.

• From Saddles to Seed Nursery, This Former Barrington Horse Farm Is Being Restored to Native Habitat (barringtonhillsobserver.com) — A Barrington-based nonprofit, Citizens for Conservation, has transformed the former Hill 'N Dale horse farm in Barrington Hills into a growing nature preserve, restoring wetlands and prairie while basing its headquarters on-site. Volunteers are removing old horse infrastructure, conducting controlled burns, and reopening wetlands along Spring Creek, with plans to gradually expand public access and create a community hub over a multi-decade restoration effort.

• Five Week 1 high school football games to watch (dailyherald.com) — Barrington High's football team opens its season on the road at Lyons in LaGrange, taking on a perennial playoff program with 20 postseason trips in 21 years. Junior running back Lamar Osterhues and Barrington's big offensive line will try to build on last year's 10-2 record, while several other top suburban matchups kick off the Illinois high school season.
