Learn How You Can Help Sustain Wildlife with Native Plants
BARRINGTON, Ill. (February 21, 2017) – Have movie night out with friends or family to watch excerpts from “Hometown Habitat,” an environmental educational film showing how each individual has the power to conserve resources, restore habitat for wildlife and bring beauty to his or her patch of earth. The documentary, which includes appearances by noted entomologist and native plant advocate Doug Tallamy, will be shown free of charge on Thursday March 16, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court in Schaumburg.

Viewers will learn why native plants are critical to the survival and vitality of local ecosystems. Attendees receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a heart-shaped suet, to support wild birds in their own backyard. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome at no charge.
This free “Hometown Habitat” movie event is coordinated by the Barrington Area Conservation Trust (BACT), and is co-sponsored by Sebert Landscape and Bluestem Ecological Services, providing sustainable landscape solutions.

Doug Tallamy, one of the experts who appears in the film, will present at BACT’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 18 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Barrington’s White House. Meeting tickets are $15 for non-members and free to members.
