Face N Time Makin' of the Music in Memory of Willie

Take a dance down memory lane at Chaser's

Take a dance down memory lane as Face N Time pays tribute to Willie, lead guitar extraordinaire. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, at Chaser’s (30 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich), Face N Time will be makin’ the music for band member William J. Kohut, who passed in 2018, after a sixteen-month battle with brain cancer.

Willie, also fondly known as “The Reverand Willie”, joined Face N Time in 2016. Taking stage left on lead guitar, we will always remember and cherish his wonderful attitude. Willie would say “I worry about every gig, but then Lindy, James, Michael and Jenn walk in the door and I say it’s going to be alright.” His favorite trick was to play songs between sets that he slowly was trying to have us play. It was the Reverend planting the FNT future seeds…

Willie’s wife, Ann Kohut, remembers that “words can’t really capture Bill’s brilliant spirit, intelligence, faithfulness, generosity, kindness, creativity, helpfulness, witty humor, dedication, determination, discipline, courage, commitment, utmost integrity, strong character, talent, unconditional love of family and friends and his invincible zest for life.

The image of Bill playing guitar for ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ at a family wedding reception one month after his second brain surgery is forever ingrained in our fondest memories as a testament to Bill’s courage, strength, determination and love of family. Bill’s band mates over the years know him to be a talented musician, always aiming to improve his own technique and expand the band’s repertoire. He loved to talk gear with his band families; his love of music gear made it easy to shop for him! No doubt that Face N Time was brought into our lives at precisely the time that we needed their spirit, talent, love and support! Bill achieved his best playing with Face N Time.

While Bill considered the devastating diagnosis of glioblastoma ‘bad luck’, he knew his family and faith were ‘good luck’ and lived in hope.”

Even at work, his love of music shone though, as described by his boss Bill Mahoney (owner of CDC), “I guess it’s no secret that heaven was in dire need of a lead guitar. I could speak of his passion for golf and running our football pool, but what he really liked was rock & roll music and playing guitar.”

Come dance in honor of Willie!
