The 115-year-old White House, at 145 W. Main St. in Barrington, will be opened up to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 and from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, according to the Daily Herald.
The village now owns the building and the Barrington village board this past week approved use of the home as a community and cultural center, according to the article.
The White House served as a hospital for victims of an influenza epidemic after World War II and a rest home in the 1940s and 1950s, according to the village. It was used as office until the village purchased it with the idea of restoring it and making it a focal point of village Center, according to the village’s website.
