Apartments At Campana Factory Building Decision Coming Soon
Batavia aldermen will vote on Monday on whether to approve measures related to apartments taking up the Campana Factory building.

BATAVIA, IL - A long-awaited decision in the proposal to turn the Campana factory building into several apartment units is expected to come on Monday, Nov. 6. Joel Strassman, planning and zoning officer for the City of Batavia, says one ordinance and one resolution are on the agenda for the Batavia City Council meeting that night in relation to the proposal.
It's Ordinance 17-59 and Resolution 17-103-R, which would establish a Planned Development Overlay and plat of subdivision approval for the proposed mixed-use redevelopment of the Campana building, documents from the city show.
The decision has been delayed for three weeks, according to the Daily Herald. Some on the Council questioned the delay in a previous meeting.

Members of the Council's Committee of the Whole have recommended approval of the proposal by a 9-5 vote. The same 14 aldermen are expected to vote again on Monday, Strassman said.
Since the committee meeting, city staff spent about 80 hours addressing more than 200 questions submitted by the public, the Daily Herald reports.
