Batavia Man Found Guilty In Home Invasion Case
The 39-year-old man forced his way into a home and beat up a person inside in September 2018. He now faces between 6 and 30 years in prison.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A Batavia man will go to prison for forcing his way into someone’s home and starting an early-morning fight last fall. This past week, a Kane County jury found 39-year-old Christopher J. Turecek guilty of home invasion, a Class X felony; and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony. Turecek, of the 900 block of Washington Avenue, now faces between six and 30 years in prison when he is sentenced in September.
The charges stem from an early morning incident on Sept. 3, 2018, where Turecek entered a home on Brandywine Circle. Turecek and a person got into an argument before Turecek left. A short time later, at about 4 a.m., Turecek returned, forced his way into the home and beat up a person inside the residence, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
Police say they received a phone call around 4 a.m. about five men fighting at the home and one man screaming that he was dying.

The victim and another person in the home were able to hold Turecek down until police arrived and arrested him, according to prosecutors.
“Breaking into someone’s home in the middle of the night is both criminal and stupid. Mr. Turecek is lucky to be alive. I’m glad the homeowners showed restraint and this situation didn’t escalate further," Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said.
