2 Teens Arrested In Street Takeover At 103rd And California: Police

The pair were part of a car caravan that caused damage to lawns and struck an unoccupied Evergreen Park police vehicle, CPD said.

CHICAGO — Two juveniles were arrested after a car caravan blocked the intersection of 103rd Street and California Saturday night and crashed into an unoccupied Evergreen Park police vehicle, Ald. Matt O’Shea said in an email blast to 19th ward residents.

A group organized what law enforcement officials described as a car caravan drifting event via social media. Police responded to numerous locations throughout the city. The sideshow started just before 11 p.m., when a portion of the group broke off from the larger caravan and arrived at the intersection of 103rd Street and California Avenue.

The group drove cars in circles at dangerous, high rates of speed. Within minutes, Chicago and Evergreen Park police arrived at the intersection. The group quickly dispersed, traveling in different directions.
