4 Shot in Morgan Park on New Year's Night: REPORTS

Four people were shot in two separate incidents early Sunday morning. Both shootings believed linked to New Year's Eve parties, cops say.

CHICAGO, IL -- Four people were shot in Morgan Park in separate shootings early Sunday morning. Both incidents are believed related to New Year’s Eve parties, Ald. Matt O’Shea announced in a public safety update.

Police said three people were shot around 3:45 a.m. in the 11200 block of South Longwood Avenue. A 19-year-old man was shot in the lower back outside of the home that was reportedly hosting a party. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was stabilized.

A short time later, two more victims also said to be at the same party were found near Monterey and Vincennes Avenues. According to the Chicago Tribune, one of the individuals was a 21-year-old man who was shot in the throat. He was taken to Advocate Christ in critical condition. A 20-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder and was also taken to the same hospital in stable condition.

O’Shea said a fourth person was shot earlier Sunday around 2:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of South Hamilton Avenue, outside a home that was hosting a party. The victim was reportedly crazed and refused medical attention.

Both shootings remain under investigation but no arrests have been made. Anyone with information regarding the incidents is asked to call 911.

“We will provide you with more details as they become available. Moving forward, all 19th Ward residents are encouraged to contact the police if they see any suspicious activities or if your block experiences any unruly parties or gatherings.,” O’Shea said.
