Arrest Made in Shooting Death of Chicago Police Department Civilian Employee
Chicago Tribune is reporting that an arrest has been made in the Sept. 16 shooting death of Morgan Park man as he was unloading groceries.

John Buckner, 59, who was gunned down in front his Morgan Park home as he was unloading groceries from his car with his wife and 11-year-old grandson.
Detectives say they have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 25-year civilian employee of the Chicago Police Department.

Witnesses told police that three people rode up on bicycles and and opened fire before riding off. Another man near him was shot in the ear.
Buckner was hit in the lower abdomen and died during surgery at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The other man’s wound was non-life threatening.

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that a suspect in the shooting has been taken into custody. Police believed the shooting may have stemmed from a neighborhood gang fight that occurred earlier and do not believe that Buckner was being targeted.
Buckner worked in the equipment and supply division of the Chicago Police Department.
