Artist Studio Tour Will Begin Beverly Art Walk Week

Several local artists who are part of the Beverly Art Walk will open their studios for a free preview a week before the main event.

CHICAGO, IL - As the fifth annual Beverly Art Walk approaches at the end of the month, an artist studio tour has been added for art lovers looking to get a taste of Art Walk day before the actual event. The studio tour, set for noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, will feature the work of a dozen artists at their own studios and conclude with an after-party at the Wild Blossom Meadery.

The event will kick-off Art Walk week, which also includes an edition of The Frunchroom live storytelling series at the Beverly Arts Center. Studios open on Sunday will be throughout the neighborhood, as far north as 90th and Oakley and stretching south of 111th Street.

"Many of the artists (in the studio tour) will not have their studios open on Art Walk day, so we wanted to break it out to give people a chance to see these studios," Sal Campbell, a founder of the Beverly Art Walk, said. "In the past, they were open during the Art Walk, but we felt they deserved their own day."

It also gives other artists a chance to see their work in a separate setting since the 200 or so who are participating in the Art Walk this year will be too busy on the day of the walk.

During the tour, live music and an interactive art making station will be at the south corner of 95th and Hamilton from 2-4:30 p.m. in a newly formed event called "Terrain Fest." The event is held in partnership with the Southwest Chicago Diversity Collaborative and will celebrate diversity, offer bike safety tips and have games for kids.
