Beverly Theatre Guild Holds Auditions for 'The Sting'
The guild invites adults 18-80 to audition for 'The Sting' Nov. 21-22 at Salem United Church of Christ in Oak Lawn. Callbacks Nov. 23.
CHICAGO — The Beverly Theatre Guild is preparing for its winter production of “The Sting,” a caper about two grifters trying to con a mob boss in the 1930s. The guild is seeking adults age 18 to 80 to audition for the three main roles and 50 supporting roles at Salem United Church of Christ, 9717 S. Kostner Ave., Oak Lawn.
There are two chances to audition at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, and at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, with callbacks (invitation only) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23. Auditions will consist of readings from the script, or, prepare your own 2-minute monologue. Sides are available on the BTG website, as well as character descriptions.
“The Sting” was adapted by David Rogers from the David Ward-screenplay from the hit 1973 movie starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The show is being produced by Tom Fagan and Dawn Fagan, and directed by Henry Bender.

The play supports a large cast and some supporting roles will be doubled up. Performances are Feb. 11, Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 at the Morgan Park Academy Arts Center, 2153 W. 111thh St. Chicago.
The Beverly Theatre Guild's roots date back to 1929 in the Chicago Park District. This is the guild's 59th season, which produces two musicals and a play every season.
