City Yanks Troubled Morgan Park Bar's Liquor and Business License
The party is over at Bar 118 after cops allegedly find meth and gun on premises during raid leading to license revocation.

CHICAGO, IL -- The party is over at a Morgan Park bar after cops found meth during a raid earlier this month. Bar 118 long deemed a public nuisance by neighbors had it liquor and all other business licenses revoked by Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection and Local Liquor Commission.
The revocation is effective immediately and precludes another liquor license from being issued at the bar’s location at 11848 S. Western Ave., Ald. Matt O’Shea (19th) said in an email blast to residents.
O’Shea said his office was flooded with complaints from neighbors about noise, litter and crime around Bar 118, triggering a narcotics investigation by Chicago police that included seven undercover drug purchases from bar employees.

The investigation culminated in a search warrant executed at Bar 118 on Aug. 5. Chicago police raided the bar where they arrested four people. One of those arrested included a convicted felon who was found in possession of a firearm, according to O’Shea. Three bar patrons were also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The Local Liquor Control Commissioner issued a 30-day closure issued, suspending Bar 118 instructing the business and license holder Chandler George Inc. to cease selling alcohol and conducting business at the site.

The order also stated that bar operators “routinely engaged” in the sale and delivery of cannabis, methamphetamine and cocaine, calling the alleged sales of controlled substances “open, notorious and commonplace.”
O’Shea said he planned in introduce an ordinance establishing a moratorium on any additional liquor licenses on the block.
