Driver Sought In Hit-And-Run That Injured 15-Year-Old Fenger Student

CHICAGO — Chicago police are appealing to the public for information leading to the identity of a hit-and-run driver and vehicle that struck and seriously injured a teen Monday afternoon in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood.
The accident happened around 3:19 p.m. in the 22nd police district. The pedestrian, a 15-year-old Maari Roberson, was crossing the street near Fenger High School. Witnesses told police that the driver stopped momentarily and gave a fake phone number before driving off.
The injured teen was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital suffering from brain bleed, two broken legs and other injuries, news reports said.

"I just want this person to turn themselves in. He doesn't deserve that. He did not deserve that at all," Martina Thomas, the teen’s mother, told ABC 7 Chicago. "He's just a child who was going to school, and getting ready to come home."
The teen is sedated and in guarded condition at University of Chicago Comer’s Children’s Hospital and has already undergone several surgeries, news reports said.

The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a sunroof and possible temporary registration plate. Police say the car may have front end damage on the right side and a damaged front windshield. The vehicle was last seen on 112th Street near Wallace Avenue.
