Memorial Fund Established for Family of CFD Chief Michael Murphy
EMQW Widows' and Children's Assistance Fund accepting donations for CFD Chief Murphy who passed away suddenly on May 7.

CHICAGO, IL -- Ende, Menzer, Walsh & Quinn Retirees' Widows' and Children’s Assistance Fund has established a memorial fund to benefit the family of Chicago Fire Department Commanding Fire Marshal Michael V. Murphy, OFI. Murphy died suddenly on May 7 while participating in a high school sporting event.
The EMWQ fund provides immediate assistance to children whose parent dies while an active member of the Chicago Fire Department. EMWQ is also charged with the solemn task of creating memorial funds for the families of Chicago Fire Department line of duty deaths.
Donations can be made online via the EMQW/Chief Michael V. Murphy Memorial Fund, in person at any BMO Harris Bank branch, or by mail at: EMWQ Murphy Memorial Fund, 20 S. Clark St. Suite 1400, Chicago IL 60603 (please make checks payable to “EMWQ Michael Murphy Memorial Fund”).

Chief Murphy joined the Chicago Fire Department in 1996. He worked on Truck 15 as a candidate and served on Squad 1 from 1997 to 2008. Chief Murphy joined the CFD Office of Fire Investigations in 2008 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2011. He was promoted in 2015 to deputy district chief and named Commanding Fire Marshal supervising the Office of Fire Investigations.

Chief Murphy, 56, leaves his beloved wife, Sarah, daughter Clare, and sons John and Will. Visitation for Chief Murphy is from 3:30 to 9 p.m. May 11 at St. Barnabas Church, 101st Street and Longwood Drive in Chicago. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12 at St. Barnabas.
