Fat Johnnie's Legend Teddy Pawlikowski Dies

Teddy worked for his father at the legendary hot dog stand at 72nd and Western for more than 25 years.

CHICAGO — Hot dog lovers on the South Side of Chicago and throughout the world are mourning the death of Theodore F. “Teddy’ Pawlikowski, a longtime employee of Fat Johnnie's Red Hots at 72nd and Western and the son of the founder of the legendary stand that's attracted attention for its years of success and consistency.

Pawlikowski, who was 42, died on March 1, according to an obituary posted on the Petkus & Son Funeral Homes website. Known to regulars at Fat Johnnie's as Teddy, he was the son of hot dog legend John Pawlikowski and Virginia Pawlikowski.

Teddy has been profiled frequently, often sharing how he earned a degree only to return to the family hot dog stand and work for his dad.
