Homicide Ruled In Death Of 18-Year Old Kara McNicholas
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office indicates Kara McNicholas was strangled to death in May.

CHICAGO, IL — The death of 18-year-old Kara McNicholas has officially been ruled a homicide. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed both the cause and manner of death for McNicholas, who was found unresponsive in a backyard in the 6000 block of South Maplewood Avenue in the city's Chicago Lawn neighborhood on May 11.
The cause of McNicholas' death is strangulation, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
McNicholas was last seen alive in the area near 111th and Central Park in Mount Greenwood the night before she was found dead a few miles away.

She was a Reavis High School alum who worked at Bria Healthcare in Palos Hills. A GoFundMe effort to help McNicholas' family pay for her funeral expenses has raised nearly $10,000.
