CHICAGO — The CPD Monitoring Team invites the public to join a virtual public hearing on the Chicago Police Department Consent Decree Tuesday, Sept. 10. The meeting will take place virtually from 1 to 4:30 p.m. You do not need to register if you only wish to observe the public hearing.

The consent decree sets out a detailed plan for reforms that must be implemented by the City of Chicago and the Chicago Police Department. The federal court ultimately determines whether the City and CPD are following the requirements of the consent decree. The federal court will be assisted in this process by an independent monitor.

The hearing on Sept. 10 will check the progress of implementation of the consent decree that was approved by a federal judge in January 2019. Members of the public who wish to speak at upcoming hearing must register in advance on the CPD Independent Monitoring Team website.
