Loaded Gun Found On Man In Home Run Inn Parking Lot: Police

Police arrested two people after a Thursday evening "disturbance" in the parking lot of the Home Run Inn at 109th and Western.

CHICAGO — What police call a "disturbance" in the parking lot of the Home Run Inn restaurant at 109th and Western in Beverly on Thursday ended with the arrest of two people, one man and one woman.

The man, 22-year-old Jerrion Cotton of the 11700 block of South Wallace Avenue, faces one felony count of UUW - weapon - machine gun/auto weapon/veh. Police in the 22nd District said Cotton was in possession of a gun showed in the tweet embedded below.

Police arrived at the restaurant in the 10900 block of South Western Avenue at 6:27 p.m. on Aug. 15 after a call complaining of a vehicle parked in the back that smelled of cannabis. When officers got to the scene, two people exited the vehicle. When officers then searched the vehicle, they said they found a fully loaded weapon under a seat.

During the incident, a woman later identified as Tonyika Johnson, 46, of the 11700 block of South Wallace attempted to obstruct the arresting officers in the performance of their duties by placing her body between the officers and the man they were trying to take into custody, according to police.

Johnson was charged with two misdemeanor counts of resisting/obstructing a peace officer/correctional employee.
