Marist Among Best Private High Schools in Illinois: Report

Private coed high school in the state's top 100.

Marist High School is touted among the state’s top 100 private high schools, in a recent report from Niche.com.

The methodology ranks 3,880 private high schools on factors of academics, student culture and diversity, and survey responses from current students, parents, alumni, and administrators. Marist’s results place the school as 57th of the state’s top 100 private schools.

The factors were chosen to ”represent a healthy balance between statistical rigor and practical relevance in the ranking,” according to the website. For instance, a high ranking in Academics indicates that students are very happy with the quality of the education they are receiving, perform well on standardized testing, and leave the school college- and career-ready.

One high school senior offered feedback on the teachers.

“The teachers genuinely care for the students and they work very hard to provide a safe learning environment for the students,” the senior wrote.

An anonymous junior commented that he or she wished they could stay at the school longer.

“At Marist, it is a real world environment with boys and girls,” the student wrote.” All of the students have a bond and it is sad to break at graduation. There are also many service projects, like a New Orleans Mission Trip that juniors go on or helping at schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and mentally disabled homes with senior service. The teachers try their best to help you get good grades and understand what they are teaching. Getting good grades is a good thing and you won’t be made fun of for being smart.”
