Police Warn Residents of Carjackings Targeting Senior Citizens
Chicago police are investigation a pair of carjackings that occurred May 7 and May 10 in the 22nd Police District.

CHICAGO, IL -- Chicago police have sent out a community alert warning residents of a pair of carjackings that occurred in the 22nd Police District. The purported carjacker targeted elderly women.
Police said an African-American man, between 45-50 years old, approached the older women near the area of 9300 S. Ashland Avenue. The man grabbed the women’s purses, then entered their cars and fled the area. In one of the carjackings, police said the man displayed a handgun.
The first incident happened around 11 a.m. May 7, in the 9200 block of South Ashland. The second carjacking occurred around around 1 p.m. May 10 in the 9300 block of South Ashland.

The suspect is described as a male African-American, 45-50 years old, 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing around 150 pounds. He is apparently armed with a handgun.
