Jennifer and Dave Brown invite all to "drain the kegs" Saturday for vital medical funds for Christine Turnipseed, battling a brain tumor.

Life’s toughest challenges are best faced with friends.

“We know we can do this to help our friend in her medical time of need,” said Jennifer Brown, co-owner of the Rock Island Public House at 13328 Olde Western Ave. in Blue Island.

“We live in Blue Island and believe in this town, our neighbors, and the power of craft beer to build a community of individuals that support all things local.

“Those who make up and define the Rock Island Public House community in Blue Island will carry the night for Christine,” said Dave Brown.

Recently completed infrastructure and street paving by the City of Blue Island have greatly increased parking capacity.

The Browns named the establishment in honor of the Rock Island Railroad, a “mighty fine line” that first steamed in to Blue Island in 1852. The Rock Island’s tracks still run behind the bar and still transport.

The Browns vision is a testament to their love of Blue Island and its residents. That so many outside the immediate area have been drawn to the signature destination gives the Browns great gratification and provides benefit to the village.

Bizarro & Son will serve up its specialty house favorites delivered directly to tables. The “Mexican Scratch Kitchen” prepares healthy dishes made only with fresh ingredients – nothing processed.
