Masked And Armed Carjackers Target Drivers Near 99th And Halsted

Chicago police say three drivers have been carjacked this month in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

CHICAGO — Chicago police have reported a series of carjackings in the Washington Heights neighborhood this month. All three incidents involved masked men in hooded sweatshirts with guns targeting drivers near the Dan Ryan Expressway on-ramp at 99th and Halsted.

In these incidents, victims are confronted by one or two men, one armed with a gun, who orders the victims out of their vehicles before driving off with the car.

Incidents similar in this nature were reported to police at 1 a.m. on Oct. 12 on the 9900 block of South Wallace, 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 in the 9900 block of South Halsted and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 in the 9700 block of Halsted.
