Street In Beverly Will Be Renamed In Honor Of Fallen Cop
A dedication ceremony is planned to rename the 9900 block of South Artesian "Officer Michael Flisk Ave."

CHICAGO - A street in the city's Beverly neighborhood will be named in honor of a Chicago police officer who died in the line of duty eight years ago. A dedication ceremony is planned for Sunday to rename the 9900 block of South Artesian Avenue Honorary "Officer Michael Flisk Ave." The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9 at the intersection of 100th Street and Artesian.
Officer Flisk was shot and killed in the line of duty on Nov. 26, 2010 while processing the scene of a vehicle burglary inside an alley garage in the South Shore neighborhood. He left behind a wife, Nora, and children, Michael, Timothy, Margaret and Brian. He was also survived by his mother, Kathryn Flisk, and siblings Martin, Maureen (CPD), Sgt. Timothy Flisk (CPD), and Sgt. Meg Flisk (CPD).
Flisk was a 20-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department who was assigned to the department's evidence technician team at the time of his death.

Speakers at Sunday's dedication will include Joe Ahern, CEO of the 100 Club of Chicago and a close friend of the Flisk Family, as well as Philip J. Kline, Executive Director of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and 19th Ward Ald. Matt O’Shea.
