Boudouris, Quigley, Sutterlin Projected Valley View Board Winners

10 candidates ran for three open positions in the crowded Valley View race.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Two incumbents, James Boudouris and Steven Quigley, and one newcomer candidate, Victoria Sutterlin, are projected to win the Valley View Board of Education race, according to unofficial results.

Ten candidates ran for three open positions in the crowded Valley View race.

Patch will update unofficial vote totals as they are posted on the Will County Clerk's website. Election night results are unofficial until results are certified later this month. Candidates are:

  • James "JT" Boudouris - 2,345 votes
  • William "Bill" Spengler - 1,523 votes
  • Steven Quigley - 2,588 votes
  • Victoria "Vickie" Sutterlin - 2,221 votes
  • Nicole Pelzman - 1,181 votes
  • Laurie Ann Smith - 1,409 votes
  • Diane Parro - 1,628 votes
  • Randall Sutton - 724 votes
  • Jon-Pierre Bradley - 674 votes
  • Rafael Ortiz -1,387 votes

The three positions are for 4-year terms.

Quigley, Boudouris and Parro are current board members.

According to the District website, Quigley has served on the Board since 2007 and as President of the Board since 2009.

Boudouris is the owner/operator of a Farmers Insurance agency in Romeoville, and also serves on Romeoville's downtown redevelopment commission, according to the District website.

Valley View School District was formed in 1972, and serves about 16,000 students in Bolingbrook and Romeoville and portions of Plainfield, Lockport and Downers Grove, according to the district website.

Parro serves on several district committees, and is also on the Board of Directors for the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation and a board member for Heart Haven Outreach.

Nicole Pelzman, a Romeoville resident, filled out a candidate questionnaire for Romeoville Patch. When asked why voters should trust her, she said, "I'm a no nonsense person. I'm very open and truthful."

With 21 educational facilities, the Valley View School District is one of Will County's largest employers, the district website states. Eight schools (A. Vito Martinez, Beverly Skoff, Dr. James Mitchem Early Childhood Center, Irene King, Lukancic Middle School, Hermansen, Robert C. Hill and Romeoville High School) are located in Romeoville, while 12 schools (Bernard J. Ward, Bolingbrook High School, Brooks Middle School, Humphrey Middle School, Independence, Jamie McGee, Jane Addams, Tibbott, Salk, Oak View, Pioneer and Wood View) are located in Bolingbrook.

Polls closed at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Election results will remain unofficial until April 25 when the Will County Clerk's Office finishes counting vote by mail ballots and provisional ballots.
