Uber Driver Who Shot at Passengers Gets Off Easy

The Bolingbrook man got probation, while the passenger who threw a rock at him received a one-year jail sentence.

Be sure not to upset any Uber drivers. Or at least don’t throw rocks at their cars.

Uber driver Marvin L. White, of Bolingbrook, pleaded guilty to reckless discharge of a firearm after he fired a gun at passengers when one of them threw a rock at his car.

According to the Chicago Tribune, White was dropping off passengers June 6 when one of them threw a rock at his BMW, hitting the vehicle’s moon roof.

Alan Slawson, 20, of Rolling Meadows, was accused of throwing the rock. He pleaded guilty to criminal damage to property and was sentenced to one year in prison.

White received two years of probation. He was also ordered to surrender his firearms, concealed carry permit and firearm owner’s ID card.

No one was injured in the incident.
