Buffalo Grove High Remains Closed Thursday Following Fire: District
An emergency board of education meeting is planned for 7 p.m. to discuss the expenditure of funds for fire restoration.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Buffalo Grove High School will remain closed for a second day following a Tuesday evening fire in the building. Township High School District 214 said a special emergency meeting of the board of education is planned for 7 p.m. at the Forest View Educational Center, 2121 South Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights
According to the meeting's agenda, the board will vote to approve the expenditure of funds for emergency restoration and repair at the school. Classes are expected to resume Friday.

BGHS was also closed Wednesday due to a small fire in the building. The district said "everyone is safe" following the Tuesday evening fire. Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove firefighters responded to the school for a fire alarm that was triggered from the English wing, according to the district. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from a room. The fire was extinguished quickly and the fire was contained to that room.

"Our restoration company continues to work diligently on clean up," District 214 said.

Unrelated to the fire, four Buffalo Grove High School students were killed Tuesday night in a multi-car crash that sent seven people to the hospital in Wheeling. Another BGHS student remains hospitalized, according to District 214.
Though there will be no classes on campus Thursday, counselors will be on site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support students. Shuttle buses will also be available for students to arrive at BGHS and return home. After 3 p.m., the district said it will run athletic practices and competitions as planned.
WMAQ-TV is reporting that Buffalo Grove High School students are planning to meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the crash site in Wheeling to "honor their friends and classmates."
