Buffalo Grove Police Remind Residents of Solicitor Regulations
Solicitors must follow certain rules and regulations in the Village; if they do not, residents are advised to contact Buffalo Grove Police.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department is reminding residents of solicitor regulations, due to spring and summer being the time when they are most active. Solicitation hours in Buffalo Grove are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Additionally, solicitations are not permitted in the Village on Sundays or on any state or national holiday. Solicitors must obtain a permit at Village Hall, which requires a police background check before conducting business within the Village. Solicitation permits can be found here and return it to Village Hall, 50 Raupp Boulevard in Buffalo Grove.
Residents who do not wish to have solicitors approach their home are reminded that they may post a "NO SOLICITORS OR PEDDLERS" sign on their property, on a front door or at a main entrance. The sign should also contain the wording; "Violators subject to prosecution under Village Municipal Code Chapter 5.24”. It is unlawful for a solicitor to engage in any peddling or soliciting on any premise or residence that has this information posted. Violators of the Village solicitor ordinance can be reported and are subject to potential penalties and license revocation.
Residents are reminded that as a homeowner or occupant, they may at any time ask a solicitor to leave their property and if they refuse, they should call 911 for assistance. Additionally, any citizen who believes a solicitor is violating the law is urged to contact the Buffalo Grove Police so that officers can locate the individuals involved and investigate. If a solicitor indicates they are associated with a Village program or the solicitor does not have a permit from the Village, residents are also advised to call 911 so that appropriate action can be taken.
