Buffalo Grove Police Step Up Traffic Safety Enforcement For Labor Day
The effort is part of a partnership with the Illinois State Police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — With the end of summer nearing and Labor Day right around the corner, the Buffalo Grove Police Department announced it is stepping up traffic patrols now through Sept. 5.
"Our first priority is to keep people safe, so we’re asking everyone to plan ahead for a sober ride home if they'll be drinking or using another impairing substance," Sergeant Tony Turano said. "Let's make this a partnership between law enforcement and motorists: help us protect the community and put an end to the dangers of impaired driving."
Like countless other police agencies across the state, Buffalo Grove is partnering with the Illinois State Police for the effort. The "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign will include roadside safety checks, more officers on the roads, increased messaging about the dangers of impaired driving, and seat belt enforcement. Seat belt usage rates are at their lowest at night, according to BGPD.
