More than $35 million in construction projects are underway in Community Consolidated School District 21 this summer. Construction work will bring air conditioning, as well as modern, secure entrances, to each of District 21’s 13 schools.

Work this summer, and in each of the next three summers, is thanks to CCSD21 voters’ support of the District’s November 2018 referendum. Voters overwhelmingly supported the District’s plans to create more secure, comfortable learning spaces for students and staff this summer. Work in subsequent summers will prepare physical spaces to provide full-day kindergarten at all CCSD21 elementary buildings and ensure future-ready schools through replacing aging classroom furnishings and by completing LED lighting and other vital maintenance projects to ensure efficient facilities.

“Our contractors have an ambitious amount of work to tackle this summer, but I’m happy to report that after one month of active construction, we are currently on time and on budget,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, CCSD21 Superintendent. “We will continue to serve as responsible stewards of the community’s resources and appreciate the trust the community showed in us to take on this project.”
