BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Each year, the third week of September is dedicated to child passenger safety. The Buffalo Grove Police Department is participating by increasing enforcement of child passenger safety laws starting Friday and running through Sept. 30.

"One of the simplest things we can do to help secure our children's future is to ensure they are properly and safely secured in vehicles," Sergeant Tony Turano said of Child Passenger Safety Week. "Have your car seats checked to ensure they are the right seat and size for the child's age, and that they are installed correctly. Also ensure older kids are properly buckled in the right seat before you drive."

According to a news release, the purpose of Child Passenger Safety Week is to raise awareness and encourage all parents and caregivers to make sure their children are riding safely in the right seat, and with proper installation.
