Construction Of New Fire Station In Buffalo Grove Underway: Village

A new, modernized fire station is replacing the former building at the same location at 505 W. Dundee Road.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held at the site for the new Buffalo Grove Fire Department Station 25. According to officials, a new, modernized fire station is replacing the former building at the same location at 505 W. Dundee Road.

Members of the Village Board, staff, project partners and firefighters were in attendance at the July 23 ceremony. Officials said the new fire station will allow the BGFD to "continue to provide the high-quality emergency services you’ve come to expect for years to come, with no impact on your taxes."

As Patch reported earlier this year, the old fire station was demolished in April. While construction is underway, Station 25 operations are running out of the old Public Works Facility on Raupp Boulevard to maintain emergency response coverage.

Completion of the new station is scheduled for September 2026. The former station was built in 1975. Originally constructed as a volunteer station for the former fire protection district, it was later renovated/expanded for use as a full-time station.

"The station was built in the mid 70s (constructed in 1975), and we've more or less outgrown the facility," Fire Chief Larry Kane said earlier this year on BGTV. "Staffing increases have caused us to do that, as well as just modernizing vehicles, sizes of doors, things of that nature."
