Coroner Releases ID Of Resident, 87, Killed Walking In Buffalo Grove

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Monday morning on Buffalo Grove Road.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The identity and cause of death for an 87-year-old man who was struck and killed by a car while walking Monday morning has been released. Roman Mazur, of Buffalo Grove, died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.

Mazur was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a 60-year-old resident of Buffalo Grove, was also taken to the hospital by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department for precautionary reasons. The crash remains under investigation by the Buffalo Grove Police Department and MCAT.

Police were dispatched at around 8 a.m. to the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road and Larraway Drive following the crash involving a Toyota sedan traveling southbound on Buffalo Grove Road. No citations or charges have been filed at this time.

Buffalo Grove Road, between Thompson Boulevard and Deerfield Parkway, was closed for approximately four hours due to the incident and was reopened by noon Monday.
