Driver Struck In Head After Honking At Motorcyclist: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The motorcyclist also grabbed the hands of a passenger in the car while shouting offensive remarks, according to police.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

Clemente Alvarado Lopez, 57, of the 4300 block of Cornelia Avenue, Chicago, is accused of operation of motor vehicle when registration suspended for noninsurance, operating a motor vehicle with no valid license, and was arrested at 5:35 p.m. June 12, at W. Lake Cook and N. Buffalo Grove roads. A court date of July 18 was assigned.

Denis Sofiichuk, 39, of the 200 block of Iverrary Lane, Deerfield, is accused of having a suspended license, and was arrested at 12:15 a.m. June 13, in the 1500 block of E. Deerfield Parkway. A court date of July 11 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A car owner found damage to the driver's side body of his car at midnight June 11, in the 1400 block of Johnson Drive. No items were disturbed or taken from the car.
  • A homeowner in the 1400 block of Johnson Drive reported they found damage to the sliding glass rear door at 10:35 p.m. June 16. No items were disturbed or taken from the home.

THEFT

A resident in the 300 block of Blue Ash Drive reported at 1:27 p.m. June 12, someone had opened their package from the USPS and removed the merchandise inside, valued at $280.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A female stole flowers, valued at $32, at 4:24 p.m. June 12, at Woodman's, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway. The person was identified, and apologized for the misunderstanding, and paid for the flowers. The store requested the previously issued local ordinance ticket and trespass notice be voided.
  • A male stole 10 bottles of Grey Goose vodka, valued at $350, at 12:57 p.m. June 15, at Walgreens, 15 N. Buffalo Grove Road.

BATTERY

Police responded to a report of a road rage incident at 5:20 p.m. June 12, in the parking lot of Sky Fitness, 1501 E. Busch Parkway. While stopped behind a man on a motorcycle, who refused to move from the intersection, a driver honked to get his attention. In response, the motorcyclist got off the motorcycle, reached into the car, struck the driver on the head, and grabbed the passenger's hands while shouting offensive remarks. The person was gone on arrival. After conducting an investigation, the motorcyclist was identified and arrested for battery.

UNWANTED PERSON

A female with a prior trespass warning argued with a manager at 3 p.m. June 17, at a business in the 700 block of E. Lake Cook Road. She was gone upon police arrival, but was identified and later cited for trespassing.
