BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

  • Demetrio Pantaleon, Jr., 18, of the 1200 block of N Cedar Road, New Lenox, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a revoked or suspended license, illegal lane usage, illegal possession of transportation, operating a vehicle uninsured, and was arrested at 2:31 a.m. June 7 at Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue. He was given a $3,000 bond and a court date of July 15.
  • Jose Alberto Marin Garduno, 30, of the 5100 block of W Wolfman Street, Chicago, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended/revoked license, registration expiration, illegal possession/transport of alcohol, and was arrested at 12:25 a.m. June 11 on Half Day Road. Following a traffic stop, police observed two open 16-ounce cans of Coors Light on the rear floorboard, an open case of Coors Light on the rear seat, a closed 12-ounce can of Milwaukee's Best on the front floorboard. When asked if he had anything to drink, Garduno told the officer he had not. After initially refusing a breathalyzer test, Garduno submitted to one at the police station and yielded a result of .108. He was given a $3,000 bond and court date of July 15 in Waukegan.

DRIVING WHILE LICENSE REVOKED OR SUSPENDED

  • Daniel Martinez-Ortega, 32, of the 100 block of Characan Lane, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a revoked/suspended license, operating a vehicle uninsured, driving too fast for conditions, damage to village property, and was arrested at 7:10 p.m. June 9 at McHenry and Buffalo Grove roads. He was given a court date of July 17 in Mundelein.
  • Tyrese Matthew Singleton, 21, of the 4900 block of Hull Street, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked license, lighted lamps violation, and was arrested at 9:34 p.m. June 10 at Deerfield Parkway and Barclay Boulevard.
  • Gabriel Eduardo Rodriguez Pina, 35, of the 100 block of Gladstone Drive, Glendale Heights, is accused of driving with a suspended/revoked license, speeding over the statutory limit, illegal lane usage, and was arrested at 6:08 p.m. June 10 at Lake Cook and Weidner roads. He was given a bond of $2,500 and a court date of July 17 in Mundelein.
  • Pierrie S. Giles, 32, of the 4900 block of Hull Street, Skokie, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked license, registration expiration, and was arrested at 5:22 a.m. June 9 at Lake Cook and Weiland Roads. He was given a $2,500 bond and a court date of July 17.

DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE

Luis Diego Pineda, 21, of the 1200 block of Countryside Drive, Palatine, is accused of driving as an unlicensed driver, driving with no insurance, speeding in a construction zone, operating a vehicle with an expired license, and was arrested at 4:10 p.m. June 11 at Highland Oaks Plaza.

RETAIL THEFT

Michael T. Myslinski, 22, of the 1300 block of Pepper Tree Drive, Palatine, is accused of retail theft at a store in the 1500 block of East Deerfield Parkway and was arrested at 4:34 p.m. June 11. He was given a $50,000 bond and a court date of July 6 in Waukegan.

INCIDENTS

DUMPING/LITTERING

A person called police at 11:09 a.m. June 6 to report someone dumping a large hot tub in the rear of a vacant building in the 300 block of N Milwaukee Avenue. The caller was able to provide police with a license plate number. The dumper was located, given an adjudication ticket for illegal dumping, and they removed the tub.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A resident reported at 11:50 a.m. June 9 that their employer, ComEd, notified them that someone fraudulently applied for Illinois unemployment insurance in their name. The resident's social security number was used to file the fraudulent claim.
  • A resident reported at 9:44 a.m. June 5 that someone had fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their name though they are currently employed. The resident received a debit card from Key Bank for the funds. They contacted their employer. They also contacted the Illinois Department of Employment Security but have been unable to reach anyone.
  • A resident reported at 1:52 p.m. June 10 someone had fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits even though they are currently employed. The resident said the person making the fraudulent claim used their name, social security number and even a salary that was very close to the resident's salary.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 100 block of Willow Parkway called police at 2:52 p.m. June 9 to report their car had been burglarized on May 25 while parked in the Rylko Skate Park parking lot, 1000 Buffalo Grove Road. The resident reported their window had been smashed and their purse, which included keys and identification, had been stolen. Since that date, the resident noticed things missing from their garage, which was full of their belongings for a planned move. The resident was not exactly sure what had been taken, only that boxes and miscellaneous items were missing.
  • A resident in the 900 block of Country Lane reported at 6:06 a.m. June 11 that their mailbox was missing. The mailbox looked to be removed from the post, which was still erect. It is described as a multi-colored metal mailbox with custom paint work. The mailbox was estimated to cost around $50.

DECEPTION/FRAUD

A resident reported at 2:48 p.m. June 7 that they had recently responded to a letter from a company called "Consumer Services" inquiring about them becoming a secret shopper. The resident responded to the letter and was later told they were selected. They also received a cashier's check made out in their name in the amount of $1,330 from Wells Fargo Bank. The resident states they were instructed to deposit the check and then purchase two gift cards from Target for $500 each. Of the remaining money, $300 would be paid to them for being a secret shopper and $30 would go to charity. After completing all the tasks, the resident was informed by the bank that the check was fraudulent.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

A resident in the 600 block of Hapsfield Lane called police at 5:48 p.m. June 11 to report someone had entered their apartment and took some canceled check booklets between June 9-10. The resident had canceled the checks prior to the burglary.

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A resident in the 500 block of Harris Court reported at 10:51 a.m. June 7 that they had left their vehicle parked unlocked in the driveway the prior day. They had received a fraud alert from their bank regarding a credit card being used at Walmart in Rolling Meadows The resident discovered their wallet was taken from the center console. Inside the wallet was $30 in cash, miscellaneous gift cards worth around $100, and a Citi Bank credit card.

ANIMAL COMPLAINTS

A resident in the 200 block of S Buffalo Grove Road called police at 2:54 p.m. June 11 to report neighbors possessing a pit bull, and concerns about the height/durability of the fence and the aggressiveness of the dog. Contact was made with the dog owner, who explained the dog was a rescue and has shown no aggressive behavior toward humans or other dogs. The officer noted the chain-linked fence was around four feet high with the bottom bent up, so a dog could potentially get under. The resident who made the complaint said the dog was aggressive toward their children and was scared for them. They did state the dog had never left the fenced area.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident reported at 3:54 p.m. June 9 that while driving northbound on Buffalo Grove Road near Lou Malinati's restaurant, a construction sign blew over and hit their car. The sign caused damage in several spots on the rear of the vehicle. The resident told police the Village was responsible for the damage. Police instructed the driver to call their insurance company and that the damage was caused by an "Act of God" following storm winds that had blown through the area.
